Project Description

Surviving Brexit. We’ve got it covered.

As we are all aware Brexit is fast approaching. In fact, there is a real possibility that the UK will leave the EU with no deal on 31st October.

How will this affect you and your orders? Please rest assured that we are doing everything we can so the effect will have as little impact as possible on everyone.

We are working with our current couriers, TNT and FedEx, and they are preparing for all the different possible outcomes. They will continue to keep us informed of their preparations. We are expecting delays to shipments to the EU and other countries, but at the moment we do not know how much of a delay this means.

We export outside of the EU regularly and are very experienced in producing the necessary documentation. We do expect to have to produce similar documentation for exporting to the EU if we have a hard Brexit. Unfortunately, we are unable to know if there will be any import duties. These have not yet been divulged.

We cannot guarantee lead times would not increase due to a hard Brexit, so we would advise that you increase your buffer stock if you have not yet already done so as we only hold enough to satisfy small orders and samples. We make large orders to order and they would be subject to a manufacturing lead time, which would not change even though the overall lead time is likely to increase. We are increasing our raw materials stocks to cut down on possible long lead time from our suppliers. Our key fuse suppliers are also supporting us by buffering our requirements with their own stock, based on our historical demand. If you are concerned with an existing order, please contact us and we will help in any way we possibly can to expedite it.

Our biggest concern was that our ATEX certification is held by CSA Sira, a UK notified body. A hard Brexit would result in CSA Sira losing their notified body status and our ATEX certificates would immediately become invalid. To prevent this possibility from ever happening, our ATEX certificates have been transferred to CSA bv. a Dutch notified body in the same ownership as CSA Sira. Our IECEx certificates are unaffected by Brexit.
